Love Honors Others
Love is shown in the little actions of our days. It is the ways we treat people either with respect or like they are beneath us. Do we honor those we disagree with or leave people behide in our quest to be right?
On my 30th birthday, I walked into my office for the final time and walked out with the second biggest weight I have ever carried gone.
To Go First
There are only 19 days until the election. The reality is, regardless of who wins, there is going to be a group of people who are jubilant and a group of people who are terrified. The question is, will we reach out or will we hunker down?
The Canyon Floor
I went into the hike with such anticipation. God, take this experience and change me. I had no idea what He wanted to do but I was open. Lord, we have 24 miles - let’s get some stuff on (and off) the table. I’m ready! But at the end of it I felt - nothing! Did I miss something or did I need to remember a pebble size lesson there on the canyon floor?
It is by our actions, what we do and what we do not do, that God is displayed in the world. When we are willing to step in and love for the long haul or be kind to one who simply is not God is given space and the ability to change people (and us).
We look for God in all the wrong places. He will not be found in a party, in the laws we pass, or the justices we approve. God is found in acts of service, solitude, prayer, submission, ways Foster beautifully outlines in his book.
Back to Basics
We are 40 days from the election. At this point, I assume you know who you are going to vote for. Instead of focusing on what is largely decided individually - I am going to focus on what we do come November 4th - regardless of who wins.
To Cultivate Peace
Today we cover the last two Beatitudes. Attitudes that our culture is in desperate and dire need of. They are also the ones that require the most self-reflection and struggle.
The Real Road to Joy
The Road to Joy is the happy medium between a self-help book that never gets below the surface to the hard work, and what can feel clinical and unattainable.
